Many of the people served by TCMHS have difficulty affording medications. Every effort is made to assist these consumers with getting the treatment they need. TCMHS consumers who do not have health insurance or Medicare/Medicaid may be eligible for time-limited assistance through a Patient Assistance Program (PAP), medication samples or reduced-cost medications with Purchase of Service (POS) funds, on a limited basis. Tri-County also contracts with Lab One for laboratory services for those without health insurance.

Therapy Services: Tri-County offers individual and family therapy by utilizing a brief-solution focused therapy model. We contract with counselors who are in private practice in the three county area to provide therapy to the people we serve. We attempt to meet the needs of each individual by referring them to someone that specializes in their area of concern. Intensive Outpatient Services: Intensive Outpatient Services are available 5 days per week. These services include group therapy and case management. To refer a current consumer, contact our UM Coordinator, Carolyn Schlee, at ext. 116.
Crisis Services: Crisis intervention services are available to our consumers and other members of the Clay, Platte, and Ray County community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are able to provide intensive outpatient services such as day hospital, daily group sessions, as well as admissions to area hospitals as needed for stabilization. CSTAR: The Comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Program (CSTAR) is a unique approach to substance abuse treatment and addiction treatment. CSTAR offers a combination of clinical and support services that are individually tailored to each person. CSTAR focuses on providing a complete continuum of recovery services, including group counseling, individual and family counseling, co-dependency counseling for family members, and case management services. Drug Court: Tri-County provides for treatment for first-time substance abuse offenders in Clay and Ray Counties. This program provides tools and incentives so that the offenders have the opportunity to become productive members of the community, rather than go to jail. Referrals for this program are made by the Prosecuting Attorney's office.
Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program: The Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program is a 13 week program for Clay, Platte and Ray County residents ages 13-17. The program is designed to provide individualized services to adolescent substance users and their families to help them in achieving abstinence and reduce the risk of recurring substance abuse problems. Gambling Counseling: Tri-County Mental Health provides compulsive gambling counseling to residents of Northwest Missouri (regardless of county). This service is provided at no cost to the consumer. Services include individual, family, and group counseling, as well as co-dependency counseling. To refer a current consumer, contact our UM Coordinator, Carolyn Schlee, at ext. 116.
Adult Case Management: Case managers assist people served by Tri-County in the coordination of community resources by acting as consumer advocates. consumers are assisted in obtaining support services related to housing, legal issues, transportation, and employment. consumers are eligible for this service based on diagnosis, disability, and duration of symptoms. Two levels of case management services are available: weekly face-to-face support and a less intensive monthly linking and monitoring. Day Program: A variety of social, recreational, and educational activities specific to the needs of the Seriously Mentally Ill adults are offered. Day Program services are conducted five days a week at four different locations, including our main office, North Kansas City, Excelsior Springs and the new Lebedun Center. Consumer-Run Drop-In Center: The Northland Drop-In Center was formed in November 1995. Run by staff who are themselves mental health consumers, the purpose of the drop-in center is to provide socialization and activities for adults with mental illnesses who live in Clay, Platte and Ray Counties. The drop-in center is not a treatment program. It consists of evening and week-end hours to build social relationships outside of treatment setting. Employment Services: In coordination with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, consumers receive intensive support in their efforts to return to the work force. Services may include a vocational evaluation, job clubs, job site assessments, job development, job coaching, and follow along. Children's Case Management: Case managers work with children and their families to assist with coordination of services, monitoring, and skill building. To refer a current consumer, contact our Child and Youth Services Department at ext. 120.
Children's Intensive Family-Based Services: This program is designed to help children/families who are experiencing an acute psychiatric condition in order to reduce the likelihood of an out-of-home placement. Trained counselors provide in-home individual and family therapy, case management, and 24 hour crisis availability. Children's Day Treatment: Day Treatment is an intensive, structured program for youth ages 6-17 who are classified as having a serious emotional disturbance or are experiencing an acute psychiatric condition. Day Treatment provides therapeutic recreational and social skills building activities with a strong therapeutic emphasis on rehabilitation. Older Adult Services: Providing outreach, community education, care coordination, intakes and referrals for all Tri-County services (in-home options available). Services for 60+ folks. Contact: Sally Kneibert, MSW, LCSW Older Adult Care Coordinatior, 816-468-0400 ext. 153.
Prevention and Wellness: Staff members meet and consult with community-based social service agencies, civic groups, and schools to present information on mental health and substance use. For more information on this program, please contact our Prevention Manager, Vicky Ward, at ext. 111.
