Liberty Alliance for Youth Elects
Officers at Annual Meeting

Members of the Liberty Alliance for Youth (LAFY) held their annual meeting May 10 at the Belvoir Winery in Liberty.

The nationally acclaimed volunteer alliance works to promote a safer, substance abuse free community.

The event featured a presentation by Jeff Baird, associate pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Baird spoke on the importance of taking a positive, non-judgmental approach while setting boundaries of acceptance in working with people challenged by addiction or abuse.

During the luncheon, the members voted on the slate of new LAFY officers to serve in 2017-2018. The elected officers are: Co-chairs Greg Mees and Elise Bennett, Rosalyn Cramer, secretary and Cathy Shevlin, treasurer.

LAFY welcomes community volunteers from the fields of education, law enforcement and social and health services, as well as the community at large. The alliance’s programs and events are supported by Tri-County Mental Health Services.

The general member coalition is recessed for the summer and will resume monthly luncheon meetings in September.
