• Active Aging — Put a Little Spring In Your Step! Join this free community workshop Thursday, May 7, at Gladstone Community Center, 6901 Holmes, from 9:00 a.m. to noon (doors open at 8:30 a.m.). • “Living Beyond Depression”, Wednesday, May 13, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Learning and Laughter; and 11 a.m. to noon, Lifestyle Approaches to Support Wellness. Shepherds Center of the Northland. • May 16th from noon to 3 p.m., Northland Senior Pet Adoption event at Englewood Vista Senior Living, 5700 N. Main, Gladstone, co-sponsored with the SASSY Ladies Club, a non-profit group of dedicated senior women who are advocates for senior-appropriate pet adoptions. Kansas City Star columnist and author Charles Gusewelle will speak from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Pet adoptions will be available at greatly reduced adoption fees. “Caring for an Older Adult: Keeping the Mind and Spirit Whole” – FREE training and pampering event for both family and professional caregivers in the Northland. 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21 in the upstrairs meeting room at Tri-County. Free made to order speciality coffee drink via mobile espresso bar and hors d'oeuvres. Booths, and free chair massages, plus training on older adult mental health and boundaries issues with families.
