Foundation Ensures Agency's Permanence

The Tri-County Foundation is certification as a Northland non-profit organization. Organized to ensure the permanence of Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc., the Foundation will also increase available capital for new initiatives and support services which are not reimbursable through tax dollars.

Stephen Brainard is the Foundation's Chair while Pete Hall serves as vice chair. Russ Weathers is secretary. Other members are Tom Atkins, Charles Garney, Morty Lebedun, Sharon McCray, Ed Quick and Laura Welch. The Foundation's advisory council includes George Bittner, H.D. Cleberg, Chuck Risley, Jane Quick and Laura Welch.

Tri-County's service area constitutes a population of more than 280,000 and as many as 70,000 could suffer from a mental disorder each year. In past fiscal year, Tri -County served more than 8,000 residents, including more than 2,000 children.

Brainard is a past president of the Tri-County Board of Directors, past president of Maple Woods Community College and former Director of the University of Missouri-Northland.
