Prevention

Tri-County’s award winning Prevention Program works to reduce substance abuse and improve wellness throughout the area.

Among its most visible efforts is work with the Northland Coalition, which Tri-County founded and continues to support. In fiscal year 2014, Coalition highlights included new ordinances promoting smoke-free environments and establishment of drop-boxes to remove unused pharmaceuticals.

The effectiveness of these efforts was recognized when the Coalition was one of only two named Missouri Coalition of the Year. Coalition affiliates receiving awards included Park Hill and North Kansas City school groups.

Officers of the Northland Coalition are (left to right): Matt Eaves, president; Lorie Niffen, president elect; Tom Mayfield, treasurer and Kara Siefker, secretary. Kathleen Welton, vice-president of advocacy, was unable to attend the event.
